THE DOES
Of
Spring Promise Pygmies

The "new" Pygmies at Spring Promise have matured and come into their own. Our current little herd only consists of five does, three bucks and a pet wether. Yep, our entire herd now totals nine NPGA registered Pygmies - the same number we started with ten years ago. They may be few in numbers for now, but what they lack in numbers they more than make up for in quality.

We came home in '05 with:
NPGA GRAND CHAMPION DOE ("Silver")
GRAND CHAMPION BUCK ("Sterling" - see him on our buck page).
JR CH and RESERVE GRAND CH DOE
"Spring Promise Tinker Toy" - one of "Silver's" 4-month-old (at the time of the show) triplets, , then [and now] owned by Deena Straub.

Although Deb's health kept us home in '06, Deena's "Spring Promise Tinker Toy" took JR CH Doe again in '06 as a yearling! "Tink's" brother, "SP Jack-In-The-Box", owned by Heather Coleman, took Champion Wether, too. Heather's young doeling, "SP Morning Glory" (one of "Silver's" '06 triplets) also took first in her class! Can't ask for much more than that.

A couple of pictures from the '05 State Fair
and NPGA Show. On the left is "Silver" in front, with her daughter "Tinker Toy" standing proudly behind her (the young doeling). In back of "Silver" is "Spring Promise Blue Saphire", a 4-year-old doe we bred and sold as a kid. We were thrilled to see her back - and doing great! All in all, it was a great day and loads of fun!

We look forward to returning to the fair with our goats in August of 2007.

Meet the DOES of Spring Promise Pygmies:

J-LYNN SIMPLY SILVER
We were so pleased to add "Silver" to our small herd as a kid - her pedigree mirrors that of our lost herd sire, J-Lynn Once In A Blue Moon, so closely on her dam's side as to be almost identical. She is quite feminine, has a wonderful head and is very correct. She has matured into a gorgeous doe.
*"Silver" took GCH Pygmy and overall GCH Doe in Show at the '04 Palmer State Fair as a yearling. She went on the following day to take RJCH Doe at Alaska's first NPGA Pygmy Show. We are SO proud of her!
2005 GRAND CHAMPION DOE, NPGA Show, Palmer, AK!
*"Silver" kidded easily with triplets in April '05 and again in March '06! Bred to Sterling a third time, she delivered a single, awesome buckling in May '07.

Sire: J-Lynn Short & Simple (J-Lynn Bee Gee x J-Lynn Dori)
Dam: J-Lynn Shooting Star (J-Lynn Metallica x Wethering Heights' April Love)
Note: J-Lynn Metallica's sire is J-Lynn Stonewashed Blues, who was also Blue Moon's sire.
J-Lynn Stonewashed Blues' dam was PGCH Sunset Knoll Tihwa - an all time favorite of mine!
Wethering Heights' April Love was Blue Moon's dam.

ASH-ANA ACRES COLORED BY MAGIC.
(L) as a 2-year-old; Aug.'05 and (R) with her new doeling in April '05.
The darker gray of our three older does, "Magic" is a mellow girl who is adding lots of bone, gorgeous rear leg angulation and some great bloodlines to our herd. She is line bred to PGCH Daworth's Dillon on her sire's side, as is our buck, Desert Suns Sterling Silver. We were hoping for a good cross ... and in April, '05 "Magic" delivered a single gorgeous, belted doeling!
Bred to Sterling, Magic kidded (again unassisted) with lovely twin doelings in '06 and AGAIN in '07 (yep, count them - five doelings in a row!). Way to go, Magic!

Sire: PGCH Desert Suns Majastic Illusion (PGCH Daworth's Dillon x Sun-E-Day's Heidi)
Dam: GCH Ash-Ana Acres Touched By Magic (A-AA Lucky Charm x Back-acher Farm Warrior Princess)

CAJUN FUNNY FARM SNOW ANGEL
Snow Angel has got to be one of the SWEETEST little girls I've ever had the pleasure of owning. "Angel" has width, strength and OH, such a wonderful personality! She is the undisputed "herd queen" at Spring Promise Pygmies.

Sire: Glenmar Pygmies Regis
Dam: Cajun Funny Farm's Brillian

Snow Angel's name was loosly taken from the saying,
"Friends are quiet angels who lift us to our feet
when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly."

This lovely silver agouti doe flew here all the way from Louisiana as a baby, a gift from loving friends wanting nothing more than to see me smile again - and have a reason to keep breeding the passion of my life - my favorite silver agouti pygmy goats.
BLESS YOU, Sandy G., and everyone else who made this possible!!

Now, thanks to "Magic" & "Sterling", I'd like to introduce . . .

SPRING PROMISE MAGIC CHARM BRACELET
(L) Pictured at just two weeks old and (R) at two years.
The very first "belted" doe born at Spring Promise Pygmie;. "Charm" is maturing
beautifully. She has a lovely head, excellent bone, correct structure and a great personality.

The youngest but certainly not least, in our doe herd; J-Lynn Gypsy Moth.

"J-LYNN GYPSY MOTH" (at 6 weeks in CA (L) and one year old in AK (R).
Named for her pretty "black moth" face mask, "Gypsy" joined our girls here in Alaska in
May of '06. Sharing some bloodlines with "Simply Silver" (one her dams side),
we are expecting great things from our little "Gypsy".

We are very blessed to have these beautiful and loving goats in our lives.

Spring 2007 Kiddings Produced:

From "Ash Ana Acres Colored By Magic" (dark grey agouti doe) x ""Desert Suns Sterling Silver" (med/light grey agouti buck): Twin agouti doelings! SOLD! Congrats Jonie in Chugiak!

From "J-Lynn Simply Silver" (silver agouti doe) x "Desert Suns Sterling Silver":
Surprise! A gorgeous single buckling this year after two previous sets of triplets! (NFS)

Planned Breedings for 2008

"J-Lynn Simply Silver" x "J-Lynn Regulus"

"Ash-Ana Acres Colored By Magic" x "Spring Promise Rock & Roll"

"Spring Promise Magic Charm Bracelet" (belted black agouti doe) x "J-Lynn Regulus"

"J-Lynn Gypsy Moth" will hopefully be bred to [either] our brand new "Spring Promise Rock & Roll" or "Desert Suns Sterling Silver". Note: Some of these pairings will, of course, depend on "Rocky" being mature enough to get the job done. We will see.
